First day of school is Tuesday, August 18th from 9:00 – 11:30. No
breakfast or lunch served.
First full day of school is Wednesday, August 19, 2009.
School Hours for Students – 9:00 – 3:15.
TEACHER : GRADE:
ALL STUDENTS MUST PAY A REQUIRED STUDENT FEE OF $20.00 FOR THE
2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR.
1. BUS RIDERS:
# Put a nametag with address, phone number, teacher’s name and bus
number on kindergarten and first grade students during the first
week of the school year.
2. STUDENTS WHO WALK TO SCHOOL:
# Put a nametag with address, phone number, and teacher’s name on
kindergarten and first grade students during the first week of the
school year.
# Students who walk to school need to enter the building through
the front doors.
# Plan to arrive no earlier than 9:00. (Unless students are eating
breakfast – see breakfast program)
3. PARENT PICK-UPS:
# Please pick-up and drop off your child before and after school at
the parking lot located in the front yard of the school.
# You will not be able to park in the street.
# It is not allowed for you to go to your child’s classroom to pick
up your child. All walkers will be dismissed through the front
doors of the school. Students that are picked up by a car are
released at the end of the walkway. For safety concerns, students
are not allowed to walk among cars in the parking lot
unsupervised.
4. LUNCH AND MILK:
# The cost of a hot lunch with milk is $1.25 for all grade levels.
Reduced lunch is 40 cents.
# Students may bring a lunch and purchase a carton of milk at a
cost of 40 cents. There is no free milk if your child brings
his/her lunch to school. Lunch money can be sent each day or
prepaid weekly.
# Glass bottles, carbonated drinks, and candy are not allowed in
the cafeteria during the lunch hours.
5. BREAKFAST PROGRAM:
# Breakfast will be served each morning. Breakfast costs 65 cents.
Reduced breakfast is 30 cents. There is no charge for breakfast for
students who receive a free lunch.
# Students who walk to school must report to school from 8:45 –
9:00 a.m. to eat breakfast. Walkers are to come to the large front
cafeteria doors. Students arriving after 9:00 will not be allowed
to eat breakfast, and will wait by the main entrance. Bus riders
will eat lunch as soon as they enter the building.
6. MEDICATION AT SCHOOL:
# We encourage parents to administer prescription drugs to children
at home immediately before and/or after school. If your child needs
to receive medication during the school day, please fill out the
required medication form. No medication of any type can be given at
school until this form is received.
7. TARDY POLICY:
# It is very important that all students arrive to school on time
and stays until the end of the day. When a student is tardy, the
person who brings the student to school should report to the office
with the student. A child is counted tardy if he or she arrives
late or leaves early.
# If your child is more than 30 minutes late for school or leaves
school 30 minutes early, s/he is counted as being absent for half
of a day.
8. PARENT TEACHER COMMUNICATORS:
# Each child receives a colored parent-teacher communicator. This
is to be returned on a daily basis. A lost folder can be purchased
for $1.00.
# If you need to speak to your child’s teacher, please call to make
an appointment. We cannot stop classroom instruction for parent
meetings. Each teacher has one break per day. Please call to see
when your child’s teacher is available.
9. PICTURE DAY:
# Fall pictures must be purchased on a prepaid basis only. Uniforms
are not required on this day. However, the school dress code still
applies.
10. UNIFORM POLICY:
# School uniforms are mandatory for students. It is district policy
that male students cannot wear earrings.
11. ABSENCES:
# If your child is going to be absent, please call the school
office. If you do not call the school office, state law requires us
to call your home. If no one is reached, the absence is
unexcused.
12. HEALTH CONCERNS:
# At times we encounter students who have childhood illnesses, such
as chicken pox, measles, ringworm, mumps, pink eye, impetigo, and
head lice. If your child has an illness like one of the above, he /
she will not be allowed to return to school until a note is
provided by a physician. Please do not send your child to school if
they have a fever, diarrhea, vomiting, or a rash.
13. SPECIAL NOTE FOR PARENTS OF KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS:
# Kindergarten students must have an original birth certificate, a
physical examination (less than one year old) signed and dated by a
physician, two computer generated proofs of residence, (one of
which may be an occupancy permit), and must be five years old on or
before September 1st. All requirements must be met in order to
enroll. Enrollment must be done at the Board of Education’s central
registrar.
14. SCHOOL INSURANCE:
# School insurance will be available and applications with prices
will be sent home shortly after the beginning of school.
